Abstract
- The article discusses a study on the achievements of biological atomic force microscopy (AFM) as presented by past and present research and an outlook of where AFM will be in the future. Some of the areas of interest include high-resolution imaging, cell imaging and single molecule force spectrocopy. It indicates how the biological AFM was further developed into a versatile tool for the structural and mechanical analysis of living matter. It suggests for AFM to be adapted to monitor dynamic processes to maintain its place between electron microscopy.
