Abstract

The article reports on the outbreak of iridovirus in marbled sleepy goby, also known as sand goby in Southern China, in which a mortality rate of 85 percent were reported from many farms in the Fushan City, Guangdong Province. The post mortem examination of the fishes reported swollen liver, spleen and kidneys and also the infiltration of their kidneys by a large number of lymphocytes. It also revealed swollen cells in the spleen with clear cytoplasm.
