Abstract: The article discusses signs of friction between Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin. Medvedev has criticized remarks made by Putin about a Western intervention in Libya, and ordered government ministers including Putin associate Igor Sechin to vacate their seats on state-owned corporate boards. It is not clear whether Putin will seek to replace Medvedev in the 2012 elections.
