Abstract

The article discusses the survey conducted to gather data on ash density in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin and to project potential economic losses in the event of the establishment of emerald ash borer (EAB) in the communities. With the assumption of complete loss of ash attributed to EAB, landscape value losses for ash trees in the community boundaries was estimated to be between median-based 7.7 billion U.S. dollars and mean-based 15 billion U.S. dollars.
