Combination of EuroSCORE and Cardiac Troponin I Improves the Prediction of Adverse Outcome after Cardiac Surgery.

The article discusses a study on the effectiveness of combining cardiac troponin I (cTnI) with the European System for Cardiac Operative Risk Evaluation (EuroSCORE) in the prediction of adverse outcome after cardiac surgery. The study subjects included 905 consecutive patients and the study endpoints included in-hospital mortality and adverse cardiac events. Results revealed that such combination enhanced performance in predicting outcome after surgery.
