Abstract
- The article examines the sexual differences in guard hair morphology from the coyote Canis latrans and white tailed deer Odocoileus virginianus, two distinct species of mammals from North America. It cites the functions of the fur of mammals including thermoregulation. Species of wool-bearing mammals that are studied because of the economic importance of their fur are mentioned including blue foxes, cashmere goats, and domestic sheep.
