Abstract

The article focuses on the need to address the health of incarcerated adolescent girls in the U.S. The article cites a study showing that around half or more of girls surveyed experienced high rates of physical injuries, obesity, and sexually transmitted diseases. Links between antisocial behavior, exposure to violence, and poor health are explored, and suggestions for educating incarcerated girls about health and treating health problems are included.
