Abstract
- An essay is presented on the Spanish mapping of Native American land in seventeenth and eighteenth century Texas. It focuses on Indian concepts of boundaries and territory and explores various Indian uses of the land, including for hunting, gathering, and farming. Several Indian groups are discussed including Coahuiltecos, Caddos, Apaches, Comanches, and Karankawas. Land sharing and border patrol practices are also considered.
