Abstract

The author provides a critical account of Kore-eda Hirokazu's "Nobody Knows" and relates the film to the established canon of Japanese cinema. A synopsis of the film is provided. He notes that the film is directed with a realism and observational details that evokes the background in documentary of Kore-eda. He observes that despite the realist and improvisational style of the film, it its also distinguished by its cinematic artifice.
