Abstract

The article focuses on the key public health law and policy challenges and barriers associated with the 2009 H1N1 outbreak in the U.S. It says that communications, vaccination campaign issues, and surveillance are some of the factors cited by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) that affect the response to H1N1. Furthermore, federal policy decisions on the availability and timing of the vaccine and priority populations also presented challenges.
