Abstract

The article presents study on Gray Wolves (Canis lupus) infested with Dog Lice in Montana and Idaho. It notes that lice can be transmitted to uninfested wolves either through direct or indirect contact with the infested Wolf. Study suggests that louse-infested wolves with seborrhea and alopecia are susceptible to exposure during winter and secondary infections. It predicts that the infestation may contribute to higher morbidity among the wolves. However, it will not be considered as a cause of mortality that may threaten the wolf population.
