Abstract

The article presents the author's views on the decreasing popularity of the rigid contact lenses. It is mentioned that rigid lenses are uncomfortable to use in initial stages this makes patients to switch to soft lenses. Also, rigid lenses can lead to various intractable corneal and lid pathologies including blepharoptosis. Additionally, patients' lack of interest in orthokeratology to correct myopia is a contributing factor in the failure of rigid contact lenses.
