Abstract

The article focuses on a study which showed that pre-treating rats with amine-modified single-walled carbon nanotubes can help protect neurons in the brain and enhance the recovery of motor functions after a surgically induced stroke. The researchers treated commercially available carboxylated nanotubes with plasma in preparing the nanotubes. They examined the extent of neurological damage in rats that were pre-treated with the nanotubes a week before the stroke was induced.
