Abstract
- The article focuses on the responses of Israelis to the religious conflicts of political elites in the public arena by exploring Israeli discourses from discussions in a focus group. The authors examine rival frames, the organization of mass media discourses, and the role of religion in Israeli society. The responses of religious Jews and non-religious Jews to the debate are analyzed. The authors emphasize differences between Israel and the U.S. regarding dynamics of religious conflict. Topics addressed include religious coercion, assimilation, and parasitism.
