Framing Religious Conflict: Popular Israeli Discourse on Religion and State.

The article focuses on the responses of Israelis to the religious conflicts of political elites in the public arena by exploring Israeli discourses from discussions in a focus group. The authors examine rival frames, the organization of mass media discourses, and the role of religion in Israeli society. The responses of religious Jews and non-religious Jews to the debate are analyzed. The authors emphasize differences between Israel and the U.S. regarding dynamics of religious conflict.
