Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. Treasury Department is considering issuing bonds with maturities beyond 30 years. Treasury official Mary Miller dismissed the possibility of a 100-year bond, but indicated some lesser term might be possible. By extending bond maturities the U.S. could lock in currently-low interest rates for a longer period of time.
