Abstract

The authors reflect on the effect of using anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS), in which it can damage the liver. They say that the use of AAS can lead to several side effects including cholestatic jaundice, acute hepatitis, and peliosis hepatis. They also mention the work of P. A. Schwingel and colleagues on the use of AAS as a risk factor for toxicant-associated fatty liver disease (TAFLD) and revealed a possible risk factor for hepatic steatosis.
