Abstract
- The author opines that the U.S. cannot allow the use of child soldiers in Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Sudan and Yemen. She views that waiving the prohibition of U.S. military aid to these countries implies the lack of commitment to end the use of child soldiers. She stresses the need for a middle ground that can address security and stop child abuse. She proposes the creation of benchmarks for ending child recruitment and for demobilization of child soldiers and action plans for better political, diplomatic and military engagement.
