Abstract
- Coronary artery disease is the major cause of mortality and morbidity in hypertensive patients. Myocardial infarction or severe ischemia are the most common causes of let ventricular kinetic abnormalities, which may reduce its pump function. However, there are limited data about frequency and correlation with kinetic abnormalities in hypertensive patients. Two dimensional ultrasound can semiquantitatively assess the left ventricular kinetic abnormalities, which are pathophysiologically associated with ischemic heart disease. Assessment of the frequency of global and segmental let ventricular kinetic abnormalities and their correlations with ECG and echocardiographic data is useful for identifying patients with higher risk of cardiovascular events.
