Abstract

The article presents a study which aims to analyze the interaction between breastfeeding and fatty acyl desaturase 2 (FADS2) and its impact in the cognitive function in adolescence. The Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and breastfeeding, birth weight, FADS2 polymorphism, socioeconomic status, education, and maternal FADS2 of the participants involving adolescent twins were examined. Results revealed that rs174575 C-carrier status and breastfeeding have no impact on the IQ of the participants.
