Abstract

The author reflects on overdiagnosing of melanoma by diagnosticians. He presents several reasons on the tendency of diagnosticians to have many diagnoses, such as much confidence on their abilities and exact interpretation of their diagnostic criteria. He discusses several cases in which the phrase "in my opinion" is used in diagnosing, which is often used as a judgment or fact. The author advises to not make quick diagnosis for melanoma without thinking the consequences.
