Abstract

The article presents information on a study about the effects in injectable and oral contraceptives pills (OCP) on serum glucose and insulin levels. The study involved 703 white, African American and Hispanic women who use depot medoxyprogesterone acetate, OCP or nonhormonal birth control. The study found that depot medoroxyprogesterone acetate increases fasting levels of glucose and insulin.
