Maternal self-report of oral health in six-year-old Pacific children from South Auckland, New Zealand.

A study is presented which examined material and sociodemographic factors influencing oral health practices and experiences of six-year-old Pacific children in New Zealand. The study is based on a cohort of infants born at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, interviews with their mothers, and an analysis of their ethnicity and level of acculturation. Other variables assessed by the researcher are educational background, duration of breastfeeding, frequency of toothbrushing and tooth brushing supervision.
