The article examines economic aspects of the aircraft industry in Washington state, focusing on the decision by Boeing Co. to locate factories for construction of its 787 jet transport in South Carolina rather than in its traditional location of Washington. The effect of the decision on aircraft parts and equipment supply companies, particularly those which are small businesses, which are located in Washington is considered.
