Abstract

The article features American artist Peter Brooke. It describes his painting "Solstice Benatrahir." Brooke says he does not make sketches and generally works on 20 panels at a time while building layers of transparent glaze. He works on quarter-inch thick birch and maple panels and shellac for sealing. He finds that building transparent glazes affects his imagination. The influence of other paintings in his work is also noted.
