Abstract

The article discusses college tuition discount rates and examines how three private universities in the U.S. have increased admissions during an economic recession. Kentucky's Centre College has used academic guarantees to attract students and increased their selectivity when offering student aid. Campus planning and personal contact have increased applications and admissions to California Lutheran University. Changes to the financial-aid program at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland have helped increase admissions according to the college's enrollment management vice president Heidi Roller.
