Abstract

An essay is presented on the intellectual property (IP) rights of American Indians and their tribes in the U.S. It highlights the IP issues of American Indians, Alaskan Natives, and their tribal governments. It provides details on the Indian Arts and Crafts Act which is enacted to protect Indian artistic works and to assist their tribal economic development. It discusses the protection of tribal and individual names and their uses on commercial products, such as automobiles and businesses.
