Improving Partner Services by Embedding Disease Intervention Specialists in H IV-Clinics.

The article presents a study which aims at improving partner elicitation interviews for identification and diagnosis of HIV or sexually transmitted diseases (STD) by placing disease intervention specialists (DIS) in three HIV clinics between 2008 and 2009. DIS were assigned in the clinics for a half day every week to administer penicillin and interview patients. The study reported increases in the average number of locatable partners and of partners exposed or infected and treated.
