Abstract
- The article focuses on the receptor TLR- dependent control of host inflammatory responses and infections of Francisella tularensis. Francisella tularensis is a gram-negative coccobacillus that replicates within hepatocytes, macrophages, neutrophils and lung epithelial cells. Humans are infected through insect bites, ingestion or inhalation of animal remains. It is predominant in North America. In this study, the mice were infected with Francisella. Infected mice showed increased bacterial burden in liver, lungs and spleen compared to healthy mice.
