Abstract

This article focuses on a 2010 survey by the Audio Publishers Association which found that the demographic makeup of the audiobook market has not changed much in spite of consumers' changing purchasing and listening habits. According to the survey, there is a tendency for audiobook listeners to be better educated than nonlisteners. It also found that 18-24-year-old audiobook listeners are twice as likely to buy audiobooks from an online retailer than other age groups. It also notes an increase in the number of consumers who have downloaded an audiobook.
