Abstract: The article discusses the prosecution of Igor Volkov, former director of the Raspadskaya mine, which experienced two explosions on May 8 and 9, 2010, leading to a number of deaths. Under the Russian Criminal Code of Article 216, Part 3, Volkov was found guilty of criminal negligence. It claims, however, that the investigation into the causes of the accident has yet to be ascertained, and Volkov's involvement has yet to be determined. Due to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's condemnation of him on May 17, however, his sentence of guilt was sealed.
