Evaluation of a Breast Cancer Risk Prediction Model Expanded to Include Category of Prior Benign Breast Disease Lesion.

The articles presents information on a study which evaluated whether incorporating benign breast diseases (BBD) histologic lesions would improve the discriminatory power of risk classification models in breast cancer. A review of the related literature on BBD is offered. Data analyzed were from the Nurses' Health Study. The findings of the study are presented. It concludes that the clinical utility of BBD model will depend on the consistency of histologic classification of BBD lesions.
