Abstract
- Sir: Gastric carcinosarcomas are uncommon neoplasms composed of mixed epithelial and mesenchymal elements. In gastric carcinosarcomas most commonly the epithelial element shows adenocarcinomatous differentiation and the mesenchymal element is fibrosarcoma or leiomyosarcoma. Rhabdomyoblastic differentiation has been observed in only five cases and squamous differentiation has not been reported. We report a gastric carcinosarcoma composed of adenosquamous carcinoma and rhabdomyosarcoma. To our knowledge, this is the first case of gastric carcinosarcoma with such a combination of tumour elements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
