Abstract

The article discusses research which was conducted to examine musculotendinous stiffness (MTS) and ankle joint range of motion (ROM) in men and women after passive stretching and to determine if there were gender differences in stiffness and range of motion. Researchers evaluated 13 men and 19 women. They found that MTS was higher in men than in women and that stretching increased stretch tolerance in women only. They also found that ROM increased with stretching in women but not men.
