Abstract

The article reports that several U.S. corporations are making larger-than-required contributions to their corporate pension plans. Technology firm Honeywell International Inc. and aircraft manufacturer Boeing Co. are among companies making excessive outlays. Contributing factors include low interest rates and an economic climate that makes some firms reluctant to invest the money in their businesses.
