- An essay is presented that responds to Professor Richard Lempert's Law & Society Association Presidential Address which is published in the same issue. It discusses Lempert's personal response to racial injustice in the United States, it examines how the Law & Society Association has addressed and responded to racial injustice and explores the overall effectiveness of social policies designed to promote racial equality in the U.S.
