Toward an International History of Lynching.

The article presents information on several papers discussed at the conference Toward an International History of Lynching at Heidelberg University and the Hamburg Institute for Social Research. Topics discussed include how lynching is a from of extralegal punishment, a comparison of lynching in the American South, Indonesia, South African and Guatemala and why lynching is seen as an example of American exceptionalism.
