Abstract

The author offers opinions on international finance, focusing on attempts by governments to lower the value of their currencies to boost exports. The tactic of so-called quantitative easing (QE), in which central banks purchase government securities to increase the money supply, is said to be responsible for the unusual situation where gold, stock and government bond prices are rising simultaneously.
