Abstract

The article discusses a study which investigated the global distribution of operating theatres and the supply of pulse oximetry. Study authors explored the ratios of the number of operating theatres to hospitals in seven geographical regions. They found that the number of operating theatres is approximately 1-0 per 100,000 people in west sub-Saharan Africa. The study also found that nearly 77,700 theatres in 54 countries are not equipped with pulse oximeters.
