Abstract

The article presents a study which shows that frequent screening may increase the detection of early asymptomatic syphilis on homosexual men with HIV. The study covers the HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) who attend regular syphilis screening at the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre in Victoria from January 2007 to June 2008. The study also involves serology and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), in which the results were compared to the data from July 2005 to December 2006.
