Tribes: That Land Is Our Land.

The article discusses the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in 2010 on the ability of the American Indian tribes to buy land for casinos and other economic development projects. The ruling states that only tribes recognized before 1934 are entitled to buy real estate as part of their reservations. According to Matthew L. M. Fletcher, head of the Indigenous Law and Policy Center at Michigan State University, a lot of tribes recognized since 1934 were administratively terminated or went underground because of racism.
