Abstract
- The article presents information on the study conducted on the prevalence of ectoparasite infestation of the Point Arena Mountain Beaver (Aplodontia rufa nigra), considered as endangered under the Endangered Species Act in the southcentral coastal Mendocino County, California. It states the reason of the study, such as to provide information on possible threats that might affect the subspecies. It lists thirty approximately ectoparasitic species which were evident on other subspecies of mountain beaver. It notes on the moves that were initiated including its capture for ectoparasite examination. Several methods used are featured including area and time-constrained searches, as well as DNA extraction and pathogen evaluation.
