Abstract
- The article discusses the study conducted by the Center for a Competitive Waste Industry focusing on food scraps and soiled paper or source separated organics (SSO) in North America. The study found that the development of organics recycling infrastructure such as composting and anaerobic digestion have expanded the SSO programs urging for municipal solid waste. Thus, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has estimated a 29.7% of landfill discards for food scraps and soiled paper.
