The method of images is used in electrostatics to calculate potentials, forces and fields. However, such a method is not used in the literature for the calculation of the internal energy. In this paper we calculate the internal energy of some electrostatic systems by employing the method of images. The technique is suitable for introductory courses of electricity and magnetism.
