Abstract

The article discusses a study on the nymphal development and egg production of Hieroglyphus perpolita raised on various food plants. The Hieroglyphus perpolita is associated with Saccharum bengalense, and is locally called Sarkanda. Feeding on S. bengalense led to the fastest nymphal development and having adults lay a higher number of egg-pods. Findings also showed significant differences in longevity and fecundity in H. perpolita.
