Abstract

An anomaly of Central Nervous System (CNS) can occur as an isolated defect or as a part of a syndrome. This syndrome can be the result of single genes, a chromosome aberration, or environmentally induced conditions (Bergsna D, 1979; Smith DW, 1982). The authors present: - Anomalies of the head: microcephaly; macrocephaly; hydrocephaly; - Central Nervous System (CNS) closure defects (Open neural tube defects); Spinal dysraphism; spina bifida occulta; - Epilepsy; - Huntington's disease; - Alzheimer disease; - Cerebellar ataxias.
