Rural clinical placements in optometry: Let's get it right.

The author reflects on the practice of clinical optometry such as the management of eye disease and levels of primary care in Australia. He argues on the practices of remote optometrists in the country which has lack of access to general and specialist health resources. An overview of the reasons why the Australian rural communities do not have accessed to same health resources is offered. He suggests that effective rural clinical experiences are well-supported in various rural medical programs.
