Abstract
- Central crack development in a metal stip under tension is considered using a regular-finiteelement model. Crack development is modeled by removing the finite element in which the fracture conditions are satisfied. It has been shown that this approach allows one to qualitatively trace crack development and to represent some experimentally observed effects, such as stepwise crack development in metal.
