“Students’ Right to Their Own Language”: A Counter-Argument.

Abstract
- The article present the author's counter argument over the issue on Students' Right to Their Own Language (STROL) in terms of teaching the English language. He mentions that his argument stresses six points which include that STROL offers no consistent view on the importance of dialect and draws into a reactionary politics of ethnic-cultural chauvinism. He affirms that the Formal Standard English remains the academic norm and that a student has no right to not employ it with excellence.
