Abstract
- This article reports on the move of attorneys to present their case in defense of William Rapetti, a crane rigger on trial for manslaughter in New York City. Prosecutors accused Rapetti as responsible for an accident that killed six construction workers and one civilian in March 2008. Crane safety expert Leo Y. Lee rejected the claim made by prosecutors that the accident occurred because Rapetti used inadequate nylon slings to hold the crane's collar to its mast. The defense also accused the engineer and developer for rushing the project.
