Abstract

Objective: We report a rare case of oil-exogenous lipoid pneumonia animal left apex locator and radiographic features rare. Likewise, it is literature review. Methods: Female patient was seven years old with a history of chronic cough. In a simple plate of the thorax externally, we observed tumor occupying the mediastinum so that goes to the hospital for evaluation. We performed simple chest CT scan and contrast, there was a mixed picture located at the apex of the left lung with solid and liquid densities, some with negative attenuation values and compressing the large vessels without obstructing the light of these and trachea. With contrast showed internal and peripheral vascularity. Pulmonary excisional biopsy was done for diagnosis. Results: The diagnosis of lipoid pneumonia pathology was left upper apical segment, abscessed. Surgical treatment with resection of the affected segment was final. Conclusion: Lipoid pneumonia resulting from aspiration of animal oils occurs more frequently in the pediatric population. Due to lack of specific symptoms and radiographic presentations should be considered a differential diagnosis in the study of patients with cough. Definitive diagnosis is based on the histopathological results and appropriate treatment is the removal of the causative agent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
